Celebrity parents have mastered making it seem like being a new mum, or parents is as easy as ABC.

However, anyone who has had to care for a child or children can tell you honestly that it is no cakewalk.

When we look past the serene babies and the beautiful homes of our favorite celebrities on social media, we realize they are humans, too.

In fact, for decades, many people have assumed that Hollywood life is the perfect one, even concerning parenting.

You would never have guessed that your favorite celebrities had people who helped them care for their children, and you would never find a nanny in any of their photographs or videos.

However, things have begun to change for a while now as some celebrities have acknowledged that they have nannies and other helpers who take care of their children while they work and do other things.

If the first time you heard about a nanny in Hollywood was when a dad was caught having an affair with his baby’s nanny and when a nanny had to reveal the Private Life of the boss to the Press, then it is important you know that things are fast-changing.

Many celebrity and working-class mums are becoming more open about caring for their children, managing their businesses, and doing their jobs.

While seeking house help or a nanny doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a lazy parent, some mums still find it challenging to accept that they need assistance.

If you have ever sat down to blame yourself for not doing as much as many celebrity mums and dads, this article is an opportunity to see that you are doing your best as a mother or father.

Whether or not you can afford a nanny, you can still be a great parent.

Below are celebrities who are real about their nannies.

1. Amy Schumer

Though Amy Schumer agreed to having a hell of a pregnancy, she mentioned in a statement to the What to Expect podcast that she did not suffer postpartum depression. All the credit for a sound mind, she gave to the help she got, saying that she had a baby nurse, and still has an assistant. So she thinks that if she didn’t have those luxuries, she surely would be in that club.

2. Shonda Rhimes

Shads says that she has read a lot of books that were written by and about working women, and she is struck by the fact none of the authors ever seems to be interested in talking about having any form of help at home. She mentioned that this deliberate omission of the presence of a nanny is not exactly helpful to the women who do not have any help at home.

3. Gwyneth Paltrow

Paltrow mentioned in a 2008 talk with V Magazine that she has a fantastic nanny. She said she didn’t have a nanny till baby Apple was 14 months old, but then, just because she was going on tour, she found someone fantastic. She points out that the nanny has been with them ever since.

Later, after she switched nannies, Gwen told Harper’s Bazaar that the new one is French, so she’s teaching the kids French. Adding that their previous nanny was of Spanish descent, so the kids are fluent in Spanish.

4. Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner talked about seeing her children’s nanny liking everything Chrissy Teigen puts up with her beautiful kids. She added as a comment to Chrissy’s Instagram post, “I’m here to tell you, don’t get any ideas, either one of you.” By the way, this nanny isn’t the same one who had a thing with Ben Affleck, Garner’s ex-husband.

5. Jessica Alba

When Connie Simpson launched her book titled the Nanny Connie way, Jessica Alba wrote on IG, “I’d like to introduce all of you to an exceptional person.

My sweet @nannyconnie,” Adding that nearly a decade ago, the nanny came into her life and showed her the ropes with her newborn baby Honor. Adding that even though the nanny had stayed for only 3 weeks, as a first time mom, it set the stage for Jess to take on the biggest and most important thing that she had ever experienced.

The nanny had taught her how to bathe, breastfeed, and also soothe the new baby. That’s not all; she also taught her about the importance of taking care of herself and gave her the space to have all the natural feels that come with motherhood and not feel so alone.

6. Jessica Biel

Nanny Connie seems to be getting a lot of good reviews as Biel says, “Our story with Nanny Connie started the day we brought our son home from the hospital,” adding in nanny Connie Simpson’s book that while her statement may sound like a normal one coming from first-time parents, her birth plan was far from normal.

Jess finished up by saying, “When all our plans fell apart, and the serene, natural childbirth we had envisioned ended with a transfer to the hospital and an emergency C-section, we arrived home exhausted, disillusioned, and totally in shock.” Guess Nanny, Connie is doing a fantastic job, after all.

7. Amy Poehler

Amy said during the Time 100 gala in 2011 that she had thought very hard and long about what had influenced her over the past couple of years, and she realized that it was the women who helped her take care of her children. 9. Charlize Theron

Theron told Elle that “In the beginning, I wanted to do it all and didn’t reach out for as much help as I actually needed. I felt, If I don’t do all of this, then maybe I am a bad parent.

The second time, I realized I am happier, and my kids are happier if I ask for more help. People think I have a staff of 40, but I don’t. I have one nanny and my mom up the street and amazing friends and family. I call them my village. But I’ve learned to balance things out more.

I look at my fuel gauge and think, Is it full, or is it empty? Then it’s up to me to decide how to fill that tank back up or just remain empty. But what can you do on an empty tank?” What a way to balance parenting and everything else.

10. Zoe Saldana

When asked how she has managed to balance home and work, Zoe had this to say, “Our assistant, our nanny, and our housekeeper.” She adds that these helps are literally raising the children with her family.

It’s because of them that she is able to rip herself away for as long as she can, and her husband as well, so that they can do what has to be done. These helps are supposedly teaching the Saldana’s how to manage their pain as they help to raise the kids.

11. Victoria Beckham

Victoria Backhand seems to be one of the busiest mums in Hollywood, but she says in 2013 that “If there’s a parents’ night or Easter bonnet parade or nativity parade, I plan around that so I can be heavily involved.” While Victoria mentions that she loves being a mum’s, she adds that she employed the help of a nanny as she can’t juggle work and family all alone. She adds that “ I think anyone who says it’s easy is lying.”

12. Channing Tatum

Channing seems to be getting the most rest as a parent, and he owes it to the Nanny. “I am sleeping a little, probably a little more than most. A lot of people who have a baby probably don’t have as much rest as I do.” He adds that his family has a nanny helping them manage all the risks of having a new child.”

Now we know the secret to the well-rested look.

13. Mariah Carey

Mariah isn’t the best person to work with as a nanny, but she says, “Unfortunately, I have to have nannies. But I’m very hands-on. I fire nannies like this. I hate doing it, but I have to [in case] they try to make themselves more important in the baby’s mind than me.”

Even those who want to be full-time mums and still work as hard as possible can’t do without a nanny.

14. Ali Fedotowsky-Manno

Adding that every time Gwen spent away needs to be productive, and the time spent with them also needs to be productive. All of that interprets to a lot of depending on so many other people. Gwen mentioned having to interview 67 nannies all by herself, in her living room, to get the people she has now.

19. Hilaria Baldwin

Hilaria seems to find the nanny conversation interesting as she has 4 kids and can’t deny the blessing that nannies are to mothers. Baldwin points out that neither her’s nor her husband’s family lives close-by, so she isn’t ashamed to seek help and accept help.

People have no right to shame anyone for getting a nanny because it’s not easy to work every single day and still take care of kids round the clock. These are only a few of the many celebrity moms who have chosen to be open about having nannies for their children.

Being honest about employing a helper to make life as a parent easy comes with a lot of courage. Yes, the criticisms will come as many people will assume that you can’t care for your child, but it’s all about balancing your life at the end of the day.
